I lay in bed with Charlie with her leg draped over my hip, worried about how the next day would turn out. Tanya warned Charlie would be "coming down," and it might not be a pretty sight. Would Charlie remember what happened tonight? Would she be pissed at me barging in and taking her home? Would she remember that she said she loved me? I needed to know if she meant it or if she just said it because she thought I would have sex with her.

It took a full hour to get Charlie settled. I had to remove all her makeup. And then she wanted to take a shower because she didn't want to smell like smoke and alcohol. Then I spent thirty minutes explaining why we couldn't have sex. She cried in frustration and complained I wouldn't "put out," but miraculously, she managed to cry herself to sleep. I looked over at the alarm clock and mentally cringed. Connor would be up in four hours.
